Kwop vs Hotjar: an honest comparison

Short answer: if you want heatmaps, on-page surveys and feedback from your visitors, Hotjar is the more complete tool, and Kwop has none of those. If you sell through Stripe, Whop or Shopify and want to know which visits made money, who was about to buy, and what to write to them, that is what Kwop is built for. Both record visits as replays. What each tool is built for

Hotjar is a well-known behavior analytics tool, best known for heatmaps, session recordings, surveys and feedback widgets: ways to see how people use a page and to ask them what they think of it.

Kwop also records every visit to your site like a video (session replay), but it starts from money. On the Pro plan, you connect your own Stripe, Whop or Shopify account. Kwop ties each payment to the visit behind it, scores every visitor by buying intent, and writes the follow-up email for the people who were ready to buy and did not pay. An MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor read the same data.

Where Hotjar is better

• Heatmaps. Kwop has none. If you want to see at a glance where clicks and scrolls pile up on a page, use Hotjar.
• Surveys and feedback. Hotjar lets you ask visitors questions on the page and collect their answers. Kwop shows what people did, not why.
• Sites that don't take payments. Kwop's main edge (each payment tied to its visit, and knowing who left without paying) needs Stripe, Whop or Shopify connected, on Pro. Without one of them, you mostly get replays and funnels, which Hotjar also covers.

Where Kwop is better

• Payments tied to their replay. On Pro, you connect Stripe, Whop or Shopify with a key from your own account. Kwop only reads payments, products, prices and promo codes, imports the last 90 days, and matches each payment to the visitor who typed the same email on your site. • It tells you who to contact. Each visitor gets a buying-intent score from 0 to 100, based on how far they went in your funnel, how often they came back, how many pages they saw and whether they left their email. Hot leads are people with a high score who left their email and did not pay.
• It writes the follow-up. The email is written from the visit itself: the plan and price they picked and where they stopped. Offers come only from your real data, like an active promo code or a price that dropped. You copy it and send it yourself.
• Money left on the table, plan by plan. On Pro, the revenue page ranks every product and plan by conversion, with what people left at checkout.

Privacy in Kwop

Every form field is masked in the visitor's browser, so passwords, card numbers and other inputs never leave the page. Only an email typed in your own forms is read, to tie a payment to a visit, and data-capture-email="off" turns that off. The flow-mask and flow-block classes hide other elements, data-consent="required" waits for your cookie banner, and you can delete a visitor, with their replays and email, from their page in the dashboard.

Choose Hotjar if you mainly want heatmaps, surveys and visitor feedback, if you are improving page design and usability, or if your site does not take payments through Stripe, Whop or Shopify.

Choose Kwop if you sell online (courses, memberships, software, a store) through Stripe, Whop or Shopify, and you want to know which visits made money, who was about to buy, and what to send them. It also fits if you want Claude or ChatGPT to answer questions from your visit and revenue data.
