Kwop vs Shopify: which is better for a first online business?
Shopify is the better choice if you already have products, expect to ship many orders and want the largest choice of themes, apps and sales channels. Kwop (kwop.io) is built for beginners who start from an idea: a short quiz, a revenue scenario based on your answers, then Kwop builds and hosts the store (or a SaaS landing page) with products, prices and copy, and gives you marketing videos, ad creatives and every visitor as a video replay. Prices and features below were checked on 20 October 2026.
The short answer
- Choose Shopify if you have products and suppliers ready, need shipping, taxes, a point of sale or specific apps, or plan to grow a large catalog.
- Choose Kwop if you are starting from an idea (or only a niche), want the store built and hosted for you, want the marketing material in the same place, or want to launch a SaaS landing page, which Shopify isn't built for.
- Use both if you already sell on Shopify and want to see every visit as a video tied to its Shopify order: that is Kwop's Visitors feature on Builder (Kwop Shopify integration).

Where Shopify is clearly better
- Depth. Shipping labels, taxes, inventory across locations, a point of sale for in-person sales and selling on several channels are built in or one app away.
- Choice. Thousands of apps and themes, and a large pool of agencies and freelancers who know the platform.
- Price of the entry plan. Shopify Basic costs less per month than Kwop Starter, and its trial lets you build before you pay.
- Track record. Shopify has run online stores since 2006; Kwop's business builder launched in October 2026.
Where Kwop is different
- It starts before the store. The quiz and idea check help you decide what to sell and at what price, and the revenue scenario shows what it could take, with its assumptions (a scenario, not a promise).
- It builds the store for you. Name, copy, products, prices and pages are generated and hosted at kwop.io/your-name; you edit from the dashboard or with commands like "set price of Linen tote to 29".
- Marketing comes with it. A video pack of hooks and scripts on every plan; on Builder, new ad creatives every 3 days and a Meta Ads wizard.
- Every visitor as a video. On Builder, Visitors plays back each visit to your store, with what that visitor spent (session replay).
- It also does SaaS. The same flow builds a SaaS landing page with pricing, checkout and waitlist (how to build a SaaS with AI).
Can I use Kwop with my Shopify store?
Yes, for the Visitors part. On Builder, Kwop records the visits to your existing Shopify store and ties each Shopify order to the visit that led to it, through a read-only connection. Your store stays on Shopify. Setup steps are on the Shopify integration page.
Can I start on Kwop and move to Shopify later?
Yes. There is no long contract: you can cancel anytime from your account. Your payments and payers stay in your own Stripe account, because Kwop charges through it. Your products and pages would be set up again in Shopify.
FAQ
Is Kwop a Shopify alternative?
For a first store, yes: Kwop builds and hosts the store, takes payments through your Stripe account and adds marketing. It is not a full replacement for an established Shopify business: it has no app store, no shipping labels and no point of sale.
Is Kwop cheaper than Shopify?
Not on the entry plan. Shopify Basic is $39/month ($29/month billed yearly), Kwop Starter is $19/month. Kwop's price includes the store being built for you, products and copy, and the marketing video pack; on Shopify those are your own work, apps or freelancers.
Does Kwop take a percentage of my sales?
No. Customers pay through your own Stripe account and Stripe charges its usual fees (2.9% + 30¢ per US card). Kwop charges only the monthly or yearly plan.
Can Kwop build a Shopify store for me?
No. Kwop builds and hosts its own stores at kwop.io/your-name. If you already have a Shopify store, Kwop can record its visits and tie them to Shopify orders on Builder.
Which is better for dropshipping?
Shopify, if you want supplier apps that import products and send orders to the supplier automatically. Kwop doesn't connect to suppliers: you fulfil each order yourself or with your partner.
Which is easier for a complete beginner?
Kwop asks less of you at the start: you answer a quiz and it builds the store, products and copy. Shopify gives you more control, and more to set up yourself.
Start from your idea, not a blank store
Take the quiz: an idea check, a revenue scenario based on your answers (not a promise), then Kwop builds and hosts your store or SaaS.
